A couple of months back when Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania had released, it had taken an opening of Rs. 8.10 crores and then seen a weekend of Rs. 24.10 crores. Now, the latest Marvel release Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is pretty much following a similar trajectory, what with Rs. 7 crores* coming on the first day and the weekend seemingly headed towards Rs. 23-25 crores zone.
Wait, there is more. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania had Shehzada for competition and that film had first day collections of Rs. 7 crores, whereas Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is facing challenge from The Kerala Story which collected Rs 8.03 crores on its opening day. This pretty much evens out the scenario for all these releases. The only difference though is that while Shehzada couldn’t grow much from Saturday onwards, The Kerala Story has already seen a good jump with Rs. 11.22 crores coming on the second day.
As for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, its second day hasn’t moved much, what with Rs. 8 crores* coming in. This pretty much shows that the film’s weekend will stay below its Bollywood counterpart and the overall run would be restricted as well. Currently, the film stands at Rs. 15 crores* and while that’s fair as far as getting some footfalls in theatres is concerned, as far as a Hollywood biggie ensuring big bucks is concerned, it would be a long wait.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
